Tantra comes from the Sanskrit verbal root tan, meaning ‘to weave’. It is not about leaving life but about weaving the realities of life with honesty, sincerity, compassion, and truth. Tra comes from trayate, which means ‘to liberate’ in Sanskrit. It is about freeing ourselves from suffering by freeing ourselves from illusions, or maya.
Tantra is a weaving together in co-creative unity, expansion of self, while simultaneously experiencing the polarities of male/female, as sun & moon, integral yet opposite sides of the same essence. Awakening the vitality of life within, all functions of the body are invigorated and renewed. Marlena Rich
